How many videos do you watch in a day? On Youtube alone, 5 billion videos are watched in a day. With an estimated 2.5 billion active Youtube users that’s around two videos per user, per day. Imagine if your tax business could get just half a percent of that traffic? In this week’s article we are giving your tax office 10 tips on creating engaging and captivating video content in order to market and promote your business.

Short and Sweet: The average adult attention span is 8.25 seconds. That’s not a lot of time to promote your tax business. Creating video content that is short yet informative is the key to promoting your tax business without losing the attention of your audience.

Get them Hooked: Video content needs to hook the viewer in within the first couple seconds or else they may click away from or scroll past the video you worked so hard to create. Make sure your content captivates the user from the start so that they will watch the rest of your informative video.

Show Off your Expertise: Everyone loves a show off! Interested clients will flock to your content as long as they view you as a source of valuable information. Set yourself up as an expert and leader in your field so that your videos will reach a wider audience.

Tell a Story with your Content: Do you have a time where your tax office was able to really help a client with a problem? Maybe you helped them navigate a difficult situation like an audit or getting their tax return stolen. Telling stories of times you and your tax business went above and beyond for a client adds a relatable element to your content and helps viewers really connect with your business.

Be Yourself: You don’t necessarily have to have a refined and polished video in order to stand out. Your potential viewers don’t want some cookie-cutter video, they want a video that feels real. So when you are recording your content be sure to let your personality and sense of humor come out!

Provide Visuals for Complicated Concepts: With years in the tax industry you most likely consider yourself quite the expert. However this can be a double-edge sword, concepts easy for you to understand are not as easily understood to others. Inserting visuals, such as charts, graphs, or infographics, can help illustrate the point you are trying to make.

Switch things Up: Using a variety of visual elements can prevent your video content from stagnating. Using a combination of the graphics mentioned in Number 6, animations, stock footage, and more, your videos will stand out from your competition.

Mobile Friendly Content: In 2020, 43% of video content was watched on a mobile device. That number is only rising as the majority of content on Youtube is watched using a mobile device. I suspect you may even be reading this article on your phone! Ensure the content your produce is mobile friendly by excluding any small graphics or text from the finished video. Keep in mind that your target audience may be watching what you create on a very small screen.

Don’t Forget a Call to Action: So you’ve created engaging content that people love, now what? All of your videos should include a call to action (CTA) to capitalize on user engagement. Have them subscribe to your page, go to your website, or even fill out a contact form. Including a call to action turns views into paying clients.

Post on Multiple Platforms: You’ve created your video. It shows off your expertise and personality, it includes a call to action and helpful visuals, and it can be watched on a big screen or on someone’s smartphone, now what? The next step is posting it! Post your video content up on a variety of platforms such as Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and your website, this will maximize the reach of your content and get more eyes on your tax business.
