Developing a clear and concise brand identity for your tax business is essential. Without a definitive brand image your tax business could be missing out on new clients and greater revenue. A business with a consistent brand presentation can boost its revenue by 23%

We understand that not everyone in the tax industry also happens to be a graphic designer. Branding may seem too complicated for you to handle yourself and maybe your tax business isn’t to the point where you can afford a full time designer. There are still some simple tips and guidelines to follow that can help, even the design novice, establish a professional looking brand identity for their tax business.

Brand Guidelines:

Brand guidelines help your tax office to find its “voice.” It allows all the content produced by your tax office to follow a similar theme or style. For larger businesses the brand guidelines have more constrictive rules but for you and your tax business it’s best just to keep it simple and flexible. Your Brand Guidelines should include; logo guidelines, colors, typography/ fonts, and examples of your brand’s usage.

Logo:

Your logo is the most recognizable element of your brand. When presented correctly your logo can serve as a symbol of consistency and excellence for your tax office. A good logo should be able to stand out as just one color or multiple colors and using variations of your logo are a great way to ensure it stands out no matter how it’s being displayed.

Colors:

There are two categories of colors your tax business will be using in its marketing material. The first is primary colors, these are the colors that appear in your logo. The second is your secondary colors, these are colors that compliment the primary colors and, while not in your logo, can be commonly used in your content either as background, accent, or headline colors.

Typography/ Fonts:

Picking a font that works with your logo but can still be read clearly is vital for your tax office. It’s important to include a primary font and secondary font. The primary font will mostly be used for headlines and your logo while the secondary font should be clear and readable for use in more text heavy content.

Examples:

Try to keep a few examples of your brand in action. Business cards, apparel, flyers, social media posts, these can all serve as an example for the proper application of your brand. If you would like to find mockups to use for your example then consider using a digital asset site such as Envato or Freepik.

Developing the branding for your tax business isn’t as difficult as you may think. Even if your business isn’t at the point where you can hire a full time graphic designer you can still have professionally designed and branded content.
