When you have a stack of tax returns to get through, hundreds of emails to respond to, and a dozen calls to return, it can be difficult to prioritize organization. Just because you are trying to end the tax season strong doesn’t mean you have to pile on the workload. Setting reasonable goals and expectations for you, your team, and your clients not only reduces the strain on each individual in the tax office but it also promotes transparency and a sense of professionalism with your taxpayers. Stop, take a breath, and relax. Prioritize your mental and physical health along with serving your clients. Take an hour to go outside, absorb some sunlight, maybe even a quick jog around the block. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep as well. While you might not need a full 8 hours like some, making sure you get the sleep you need will mean a greater mental focus during the day and less mistakes when filling out somebody’s return.
